Movie weekend Feb 2011

This weekend was a MEGA movie weekend for me as i caught 3 movies back-to-back-to-back in under 24 hours, and in order of screening, they are:

Show No. 1

*Waste of time & money*

Seriously lousy show, plot was weak, action was weak, Statham is so Statham and don't get me started on the dialog. It was so bad, my friend fell asleep more throughout most of the show...

His only comment was : "wah..the air-con very cold la"

yes.. that's how memorable the show was.


Show No. 2

*Thinking of going caving or scuba? think again.... hard..*

After a disappointing start to the movie weekend, the next pick was crucial. And this was chosen purely because we had some time before the show we really wanted to watch. With Hollywood heavyweight James Cameron on board (exec-prod), what could go wrong?

Weak plot, hasty execution, but for me the movie did capture the emotion of panic as the cast were trapped in a fast flooding underwater cave. It gave me a flash-back to the time i dived... seriously scary when you start to panic underwater if you're stuck or your mask is filling with water @.@

There were a few scenes which in my opinion is just too gruesome la.. seriously graphic.


Show No. 3

* Go watch if you haven't already *

The show we were waiting to watch.

The action was great with many explosion scenes and kungfu, but any kungfu scene after IpMan has to come at a higher standard than this. WingChun has raised the bar so high that even if the hero were to fight 10, it'll be so *YAWN*

Don't get me wrong. This is a good show to watch, but there's just too much crying for me. No doubt AL was great in playing the bad@$$ general turned into a crying,remorseful, repentant monk after he was triple-crossed when he tried to double-cross his brother.

Andy Lau - Still so yeng, with or without hair.. George Clooney of Asia?
Jackie Chan - Still trying his style of attempt-to-be-hilarious kung-fu style unsuccessfully
Nicholas Tse - No longer as yeng as before
Fan BingBing - Mistakenly identified as IpMan's wife... (no she's not)




On a whole, i have to say that IMDB got the rating for mechanic seriously wrong.. no way it should be any more than 4..

On the plus side, Malaysia was mentioned in Sanctum and in the I am Number Four trailer. Not bad huh... looks like our country is making waves on the international hollywood scene.. thanks to jho-low perhaps?
